A faint reflection nebula in the constellation of Scorpius..
Sharpless 1 (SH2-1) is a very faint reflection nebula. It is a reflection nebula because it does not emit any light of its own but reflects light from the nearby stars. The magnitude 2.9 Pi Scorpii (which is infact a triple star. Two of the triple stars are hot B type main sequence stars giving the bluish white colour. The distance is approximately 590 light years. The second blue star is 4 Scorpii, is also a bluish white star with a magnitude of 5.5 and distance of approximately 408 light years. Wikipedia says the nebula lies 650 light years from earth.
Not an easy target from Bortle 6 skies but I think quite beautiful.
6.2 hours total integration from 93 x 240sec RGB light frames.
