Radical reworking of mass marked cars for racing purposes began in the 1930¨s.The Pierson Brothers modified 1934 Ford is thequintessential early "hot rod".The low,re-shaped and aggresive turret was revolutionary at the time,as was the red,white and blue "candy"paint job,created by experimenting with translucent pain over a base color,When it was first raced in 1949 it set a class record of 153 mph.Construction was sponsered by autoparts maker Edelbrock and in April 1950 this automobile graced the cover of the then-new magazine HotRod-
