The former route 524 Mendrisio - Serpiano was replaced some years ago by a shortened Mendrisio to Meride route, with Serpiano hotel left served by a cable car from Brusino Arsizio. Today, buses are back on the small mountain road, but only twice a day during summer season and with minibus, serving the hiking area of Monte San Giorgio.
