It's been such a long night, the ER has been buzzing none stop and it is only getting worse. People are still flooding through the doors. This new spurt seem to be the crazies. They are either drunk or high, or maybe both. It is a little odd they all keep screaming the same thing "someone....thing bit me" What is this new craze? I have no idea but what I do know is they are going from screaming to dropping dead like flies. I lost count how many deaths we have had tonight. Must be a new record, I've never seen anything like this!

Right now I'm heading down to the mortuary with yet another stiff. This one barely made it through the doors before he collapsed. He looks pretty messed up, like he's had the fight of his life before coming here, he's covered in blood, even running from his mouth. I'd hate to see the other guy. But this is how it's been since I got called back to the ward.

I really hope this slows down soon. I'm so tired I could just climb on this bed with the body and take a nap. Obviously I wont do that, but man it looks so comfy.

As I reach the elevator, I find myself just standing there looking at the body while my mind wonders off on it's own. All I can think is this poor guys life was cut short so fast, just like a lot of people here tonight. Now my head is rushing from him to my wife. It's odd I haven't been able to get a hold of her. I know she went out with the girls last night but she always keeps the phone on loud and answers me right away. But not tonight, She hasn't even answered the house phone. I don't like it. But I can't leave here to go check on her until things calm down. Hopefully she just had one too many and went straight home to sleep it off. She will be there when I get in I'm sure.

The elevators ding snaps me from my gaze. Looking up I see it's empty, so wheel the bed in and hit the basement level. Within a few seconds the doors close and we start going down. I hope no one else hits the button, I just want to get down there and back up. The quicker I get this done, the quicker I can get out of here.

As we drop down the few floors I suddenly hear a lot more screaming than I have in the ER all night. It sounds like something from a horror movie. The screams are blood curdling, ear piercing like nothing I've ever heard before. Suddenly I'm dreading this door opening, I have no idea what is going on out there, but it doesn't sound like something I want to be stepping into. A wiser man would have stopped the elevator and tried to get it to go back up, but I guess I'm just not a wiser man...
