Los Tribunales
The law court in Concepción, Biobío, Chile. It was built following the earthquake of 1939. The city boasts many iconic 1940's buildings as a result of the rebuild. The statue dates to 1950 and depicts Bernardo O'Higgins, the independence leader who became the first leader of the Chilean Republic. He proclaimed Chile's independence in Concepción's nearby Plaza de Armas, (now called the Plaza de la Independencia) in January 1818.
