Die Weltfriedensglocke / Diese Glocke ist ein Symbol für den Weltfrieden. Mehr als 100 Länder, die sich dem UN-Gedanken verpflichtet fühlen, spendeten Münzen, die dem Guss der Glocke beigegeben wurden. Stifterin ist die Weltfriedensglockengesellschaft in Tokio/Japan. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Vereinten Nationen will sie freundschaftliche Beziehungen zwischen den Staaten der Welt entwickeln und die internationale Zusammenarbeit fördern. Die Idee der Friedensglocken ging von einem Überlebenden der Atombom-benabwürfe auf Japan aus. Im Jahre 1954 wurde die erste Glocke auf dem Gelände der UN in New York errichtet. Bis 2004 erhielten 19 Städte in 16 Ländern solche Glocken. Sie werben über die Grenzen der Staaten und Kontinente hinweg für internationale Verständigung. Am 1. September 1989 fand anlässlich des 50. Jahrestages des Beginns des Zweiten Weltkrieges die feierliche Einweihung von zwei Weltfriedensglocken in Berlin und Warschau statt. Zu besonderen Anlässen wird die Glocke im Volkspark Friedrichshain geläutet. / Der Senat von Berlin

This bell is a symbol for world peace. More than 100 countries, which are committed to the UN idea, donated coins that were added to the casting of the bell. The founder is the World Peace Bell Society in Tokyo / Japan. In close cooperation with the United Nations, it wants to develop friendly relations between the countries of the world and promote international cooperation. The idea of the peace bells came from a survivor of the atomic bombing on Japan. In 1954 the first bell was erected on the premises of the UN in New York. By 2004, 19 cities in 16 countries had received such bells. They promote international understanding across the borders of states and continents. On September 1, 1989, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the start of the Second World War, the inauguration of two World Peace Bells took place in Berlin and Warsaw.
