Alabama Southerns Reform/Artesia Turn heads through Bent Oak as it traverses KCS’s Tuscaloosa Sub on a dank and damp Mississippi morning. While many fall for the misconception that Mississippi is table top flat, this view dispels that myth quite eloquently. While certainly not the Appalachians, there are grades still to be reckoned with and along the Tuscaloosa Sub this is the most severe. So on a drab day full of clag, 5 veteran SD40-2’s dig in hard to lug this eastbound freight and will soon revert to dancing with slack. For now though, they are lugging their hearts out with this metal centipede.
