Pink Toothbrush

Pink Toothbrush is a short film that is based off of a randomly selected word and was shot over the course of 2 weeks. The word that was assigned to my group was ‘toothbrush’. Using this word we decided to visualise a descent into depression with me handling the cinematography and editing of the short film. My main goal with this film was to place the audience in the shoes of the protagonist by editing sharply on the beat of the contrapuntal music used. My intentions were for the music to start off (arguably) humorously in the beginning with shots such as the sink, which gets dirty to the beat of the song. However, as the film progresses, the lighting drifts into a colder tone and I intentionally aimed to make the audience feel uncomfortable as the editing slows at the climax where the protagonist cries for an unnerving span of time. This contrasts that of many of the other shots in an attempt to visualise an uncomfortable amount of grief for an everyday occurrence such as abandonment. I believe that this is my most well shot film.
