Swedish Railways (SJ) sleeping car, 6 Nov 1986

Sleeping compartment in daytime mode. This photo was taken on board the 16.40 overnight train from Kiruna to Stockholm ("Nordpilen"), a journey scheduled to take 17 hours 45 minutes. The warm tones of the varnished interior, the plush blue seating and the efficient heating made it feel very cosy. At night, the seating is folded down to reveal a comfortable bed.
