Twr Mawr Lighthouse, Llanddwyn Island, Yns Mon | In Explore - 9.5.2022 | Thank you all!!!

Llanddwyn Island is home to the Twr Mawr Lighthouse built in 1873. It's one of the UK's iconic landscape photographs and I took this shot at 10.50am on Saturday 7th May after walking the one and a half miles along Llanddwyn Beach from the nearest car park.

Llanddwyn Island is cut-off during high tides - with high tide being 14.12pm that afternoon. The island juts out into the sea at the North West end of Llanddwyn Beach forming Llanddwyn Bay. The beach and island also offer fine views of the distant Snowdonia Mountains and Llyn Peninsula.

You are advised to leave the island two hours beforehand as the walk back takes around 45 minutes. I wisely left at Midday, with a view to returning later to further explore this beautiful place.
