Altocumulus Floccus Clouds after sunrise - Betws yn Rhos North Wales - 18.1.2022

Took this beautiful cloud formation at 8.15am on Tuesday 18th January 2022 - just after sunrise - with the sun's ray's being diffused behind the horizon.

Altocumulus Clouds are middle altitude clouds that are characterised by globular masses or rolls in layers or patches and occur between 2,000 - 7,000m (7,000 - 23,000ft).

There are several sub groups.

Altocumulus Floccus clouds generally indicate that there is instability in the altitude when they are formed. That's certainly been the case here recently with the extremes of weather we've experienced during the last month and are ongoing!

Our topgraphy is quite 'Unique' - being five miles distant from the North Wales Coast Line to the immediate left and to the right bordering on the foothills of the Carnedd Mountains and thereafter Snowdonia. Frequently this results in converging weather systems above our village - resulting in atmospheric turbulence as well as great photo opportunities like this!
