'International Flight Departure' - Happy Telegraph Tuesday (HTT) Everyone!
Sincere apologies for my recent absences.
Thought this would be of interest after noticing this small flock of Swallows( Hirundo daurica) on the overhead power lines near my home in Betws yn Rhos, North Wales last Friday. Certainly there appear to be several young judging by their much less deeply forked tails.
Took a similar image, this time last year, of them assembling before their long journeys back to Africa either via the West Coast or down the River Nile. It's become noticeably much colder at night here now and I suspect some have already departed. On average they will fly 200miles daily stopping off at various marshes to feed on insects en route.
Very much hope you are all still keeping safe and well.
