'Illuminations at Sunset- - Penmaenmawr, Conwy, North Wales Coast - 21.8.2021
This 'Illuminated Image' of the Limestone Penmaen-bach Headland (Right) and the Cumulus Clouds above, was taken at 20.10pm, fifteen minutes before the sun finally disappeared below the Western Horizon to my immediate left. Recently, I posted the stunningly beautiful sunset image, taken seconds beforehand, but this was the equally beautiful vista to my then immediate right. The way the setting sun was 'Illuminating' the Cumulus Clouds was what first attracted me - then as the clouds further cleared the sun's rays lit up the nearby Penmaen-bach Headland too.
This was another added bonus and the perfect end to an enjoyable shoreline walk organised by Conwy Camera Club.
We'd left the same spot at 4.30pm to walk the two mile headland shoreline between Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan only possible at extremely low tides. As well as enjoying the stunning coastal views, we were also able to walk beneath the impressive Victorian North Wales Coast Railway and much more modern A55 North Wales Expressway Road Viaducts standing above each other on the headland.
This shot was taken from Penmaenmawr's Western Promenade Car Park looking across Conwy Bay to the town of Llandudno (centre in shadow). Far left, also in shadow, is the Great Orme Limestone Headland and beyond the Irish Sea.
