Statue of Liberty Nebula - NGC 3576 - Explored 23rd September 2024

NGC 3576 nebula in the Sagittarius arm of our galaxy . A popular name for the nebula is "The Statue of Liberty" because of the distinctive shape in the middle of the nebula.

This image is a reprocess of an imaged taken on a dark moonless night at the side of the road beside some farming land north of Melbourne. As it was close to Melbourne Airport, planes were coming into land every few minutes, but their flight path did not interfere with our imaging.

Stacked and processed using PixInsight.
