cottage (and summertime pictures) blues
This brick Tudor-like cottage, built in the late 1920s, is perhaps a half mile downhill from our place in a block full of cute houses with charming little front yard gardens. My wife and I were on a walk with our youngest, we'd stopped and waited while he ran back to the house for his bike helmet because he wanted to use an electric rideshare scooter we'd come upon. Since he has broken his wrist two years in a row (the first time in the mountains, the second time early spring during school recess), a helmet seemed well-advised (granted, he's only allowed to putter along the sidewalk at a snail's pace).
Summertime is here. I feel self-conscious admitting this, but summer is easily my least favorite season. I'm sure there's something wrong with me :-) It's not that enjoyable things don't happen for me from June through August. It's the heat, maybe. The wildfires. The extra throngs of tourists in Seattle. The discombobulation of schedules with the kids being out of school. And it's probably my least-productive time for photography.
