The Mint House.

by tigermeet_f16

The Mint House in Westham for one of their open days. Built in 1350 (ish} and remodelling in the 1600s.
The beams are believed to come from the Pevensey Hall that used to be in the Castle grounds, (opposite).

Never a Mint itself, possibly a market hall or warehouse originally, before becoming a dwelling in the 1600s and eventually an Antiques Showroom. Although the site is believed to be on the original site for the Norman Mint with a tunnel running to the Norman Castle under the Roman Curtain Wall.

2 amazingly detailed fireplaces. The first depicting the Biblical Leviathan. πŸ”₯
Murals on the wall which they hope to find more off 🎨

Unfortunately the building is falling apart, lots of renovation works needed. Especially as 20th century renovations were done poorly.
