Designed for the desert climate, the dome houses - also called beehive homes - with their thick mud brick walls trap in the cool and keep the sun out as well (beehive homes rarely have windows). The high domes of the beehive houses also collect the hot air and this way cooling down the lower areas of the houses. In 2009 the inhabitants were partly of Bedouin origin, but Circassians also lived in the region.
