-Tip of the Iceberg-

It has been 2 months since the event that led to most of Batman’s rogue gallery breaking out of the Arkham Asylum, and Bruce Wayne has not gotten much rest ever since then. Even though he has already succeeded in taking in a few of his most prominent villains, a majority of them are still loose and wreaking havoc in Gotham. As Alfred watches Bruce breaking down more and more with each passing night, he proposes the idea of him getting a sidekick to help out with his nightly activities.

After being rescued by Batman from one of the Joker’s earliest crimes that resulted in his parents going missing, the young Duke Thomas has been stuck in the foster system for years. Despite starting out as an exemplary child, his reluctance to accept his parents are most likely dead and his attempts to find clues about his parents whereabouts have led to several fights and encounters with the GCPD. Events like these led to a couple of his former foster parents putting him back in the system, making both Duke and the people in charge of the system fear that he would never be fit to live in a foster family. But they found hope again after millionaire Bruce Wayne signed on to become a foster parent who got assigned to take care of Duke.

Shortly after arriving in Wayne Manor late at night and showing Duke around the house, Bruce suddenly spots the Bat-Signal in the air. Upon calling Alfred to finish the tour around the house he quickly excuses himself and walks away to suit up as the Dark Knight once again. Duke becomes suspicious that Bruce is hiding something, and soon after Alfred finishes the tour he explores the house on his own to find out what he was up to. Upon locating Bruce’s office in the massive mansion, he begins to look around to find any evidence. After pulling a couple of books about bats out of the shelf he suddenly hears a click as the bookshelf makes way for a hidden elevator.

As Batman arrives at the Bat-Signal where usually Commissioner James Gordon is standing alone waiting for him to arrive, he notices another figure next to him. Gordon introduces him to Barbara Gordon, his daughter. Since his retirement is nearing closer and closer and due to Barbara just finishing her training for the police corps, she will replace him once he retires. He hands him a datapad displaying a message from a couple of Batman’s worst enemies; The Penguin and Mr. Freeze. After Freeze displays the power of his new cybernetic arm capable of turning people into blocks of ice within seconds, the two make their demands. If they don’t get 30 million dollars within the next week to use to find a cure for Freeze’s terminally ill wife, he will engulf the city of Gotham in ice making it inhabitable for months. After deciding to leave this matter to the major first before taking action themselves, James gives Batman a small bit of intel some of his colleagues have gathered on a different subject; another vigilante calling herself Batwoman dressed in a suit similar to what he himself wears with yellow accents has been spotted fighting crime on the streets, even managing to put Polka-Dot Man back behind bars. Batman assures him that he doesn’t know who the other vigilante is and that he is not connected to him. Right before he leaves, he notices that Barbara looks way more nervous than before, but he doesn't think much of it.

Upon returning to the Batcave, the only place where Bruce could be his true self, he sees that Duke has already figured out what is hidden under Wayne Manor as he’s looking around in the cave at the things stored in there. He gets scared at first as he notices Batman standing behind him, but quickly pulls himself together since he has admired him for years. Duke explains how he recalls how scared he was when the Joker kidnapped both him and his parents, and how relieving it was to get saved by Batman. After remembering the situation Batman decides to take the plunge, and reveals to Duke that the person who saved him at a young age and his new foster parent are one and the same. As soon as he processed this new information, Bruce offers to train him in order for him to potentially become his sidekick. Duke happily agrees, and soon the two begin training together.

As the days pass and as Duke gets way more and more skilled, Bruce decides to take him with him on night patrol to see how he holds up in real combat situations. To his surprise he turns out to be a great aid in a fight against a couple of regular criminals, even managing to hold his own against some of them. Meanwhile, Bruce tries to stay in contact with Gordon for any updates on the mayor’s decision on the threat from Freeze and Penguin. As the final day rolls around with still no updates on the situation, Bruce gets sick of waiting for her to make a decision and chooses to handle it himself despite her orders. After suiting up himself, he gives Duke a bright red costume to wear if he thinks he is capable of aiding him in a fight against a couple of supervillains. He accepts the challenge, and gives himself an alias to use during battle: Robin.

Shortly after figuring out the current whereabouts of Mr. Freeze and The Penguin, Batman and Robin get in the Batmobile to take them down before Gotham becomes covered in ice. As they arrive at their hideout, an abandoned factory in the slums of the city, the two park the Batmobile near the place and sneak into the factory. Upon locating the room where the supervillains are in, Batman immediately notices an obstacle; dozens of Penguin’s henchmen, all dressed in penguin outfits are scattered around the room while being armed with heavy guns. As if that wasn’t enough, he also spots the other vigilante Commissioner Gordon was talking about, Batwoman, sneaking in through one of the broken windows. Before he can talk to the vigilante to see if she is planning to fight against or with him and Robin, she jumps down to the frozen floor to directly confront the two supervillains. Although she succeeds in taking down three of the henchmen after landing, she is no match for the cybernetic arm of Freeze. He points it at her and fires a couple of shots, freezing everything in its way as they land. Batwoman narrowly avoids the first bunch of shots but gets hit by the last one, prompting Batman and Robin to intervene. As they jump down Batman throws a smoke grenade at the ground to avoid getting shot down by Freeze, quickly moving the vigilante to a safe spot in the ice cold room.

After injecting her with a Miraclo Formula Shot to help her recover from getting hit by the ice blast, the three form a plan to take down the Penguin and Freeze. As the smoke begins to clear more and more they set the plan in motion; as Robin takes out the henchmen of Penguin, Batman and Batwoman first take out Freeze as they find him more of a threat than the Penguin. While Batman acts as a distraction, Batwoman quickly succeeds in making his cybernetic arm useless with an EMP grenade. The henchmen are no match for Robin either, as he beats them one by one. As both Freeze and his henchmen are unable to protect the Penguin anymore, he reluctantly surrenders to the heroes. As the police start on the scene, Mr. Freeze begs Batman for one thing; making sure his wife won't be harmed in his absence. Although he doesn't want to give any sympathy to the person who threatened to freeze the entirety of Gotham just a few days prior, he eventually agrees to do so due to how much Freeze cares about his wife’s well-being.

Following the police’s arrival at the scene and the apprehension of Mr. Freeze and The Penguin, Commissioner Gordon thanks Batman, Robin and Batwoman for saving the city. Seeing how Batwoman acted around the Commissioner leads Batman to put the pieces together; Barbara Gordon, the promising new police recruit, is actually a vigilante at night. As the two villains get taken back to Arkham Asylum, Batman receives an odd message from an unknown number, asking if he wants to answer a riddle.

Well, this took way longer than needed.
