A Hill Full at Hillhead - 66742 at Hillhead Quarry
GBRf's 66742 'ABP Port of Immingham Centenary 1912-2012' crawls away from Hillhead Quarry on 6G89 to Hams Hall.
Hillhead Quarry, owned by Tarmac, joins Dowlow (Breedon), Hindlow (Tarmac), Tunstead (Tarmac) and Dove Holes (Cemex) as the latest Peak District exporter of aggregates around the UK by train, with sporadic trains to Hams Hall now into their fourth week. There are also trains to Leyland and Small Heath in the pipeline, but no sign of either starting as of yet.
A larger gallery on the hillside than I expected for this, all of whom were thankful to local sun whisperer Frank Richards, who let 66742 out of Hillhead at just the right time to see a pesky patch of cloud slip by first.
