The main entrance from Liège-Guillemins train station....

Today's high-speed trains require special infrastructure along the high-speed line, and between the cities of Brussels and Cologne, Liège-Guillemins is a very important train station.

Because Liège's old station could not longer meet the specifically required infrastructure, an international competition was launched for new design for the Liège-Guillemins train station and the futuristic-looking design by the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava was chosen among the entries.

This architect also previously designed the train stations of Zürich, Lucerne, Lyon, Lisbon and New York.

The beautiful futuristic-looking train station is made of steel, glass, white concrete and Belgian bluestone and features a length of 160 meters and 35 meters height.
