The Frisian Bouier........
The freight bouier is a very old type of sailing ship that has its origins in the 15th century.
However, the rigging of these freighters has undergone a long development and the square sails and whip rigging have been supplanted by the latest development of the mizzen rig on a boom.
In the mid 19th century, more emphises was placed on the navigability and speed of this type of ship, with hull improvements based on the body shape of fish and birds.
Because of this enormous improvements the bouier was also built as a yacht, which only a few wealthy people could afford.
