Rottumeroog the beautiful... The formation of Earth...
I'm now on the immense beach plain at the northern tip of Rottumeroog and a small ray of sun breaks through the cloud cover while this ray falls on the emergence of two young dunes.
The sand is held by the pioneer plant beach grass. This plant produces long rhizomes and when the shoots of the roots come into contact with light, new sprouts emerge.
The necessary freshwater moistening of the plant takes place trough the rain or air humidity.
Dune formation takes place when an object is lying on the beach plain, that has a windward side and a leeward side, so that the sand will be lifted at the windward side and can remain out of the wind on the leeward side.
In this way, the dune can get higher and higher and the bottum of it will become further overgrown with grasses, mosses and shrubs.
The start of dune formation can occur from anything such as a piece of wood washed ashore or a dead bird, as long as the object can hold the drifting sand on one side.
I think it went in exactly the same way with the formation of the earth: From shallows, the sand came to the surface trough silting and the formation of land took place by means of dune formation........
