LEGO HMS Dreadnought

OctansLUG-- WW1: The Dawn of Mechanised Warfare

Day 4 – Battleships

It wasn't just on land and air that these innovations were taking place. When HMS Dreadnought entered service with the Royal Navy in 1906 the technological advances she featured had a longlasting impact on the future of battleships, going on to lend her name to a whole class of 'dreadnoughts', with every major power soon making there own. The dreadnought utilised an 'all-big-gun' armament, giving her an unprecedented number of large-calibre guns, as well as being propelled by a steam turbine.

Perhaps the most famous use of Dreadnought class Battleships during the First World War was during the Battle of Jutland. Across both sides, 250 ships clashed in the North Sea, including over 40 Dreadnought-era Battleships. By the end of the battle the combined casualties of both sides surpassed 10,000 men.

Probably my first military lego build. Special thanks to Ryan , Jacob , Bobby and John for the feedback in OctansLUG discord!
