Enchanting Tolerance Scuplture in Houston Buffalo Bayou Park
This photograph was taken in Buffalo Bayou Park near Downtown Houston during my recent visit to attend meetings and conference.
This is one of seven “Tolerance” sculptures created by internationally renowned Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa and sited in
According to Houston Arts Foundation, the seven human figures represent the seven continents. Each embodies the need for tolerance, openness, and understanding towards others’ cultures, values, and faiths. The framework of each sculpture consists of alphabetic symbols from nine different languages around the world, reflecting Plensa’s belief that no matter the language we think in, our lives are similar.
It was a pleasant evening admiring the seven sculptures and trying to find appropriate viewpoints of these figures with the surroundings.
