Singapore Merlion at Night
The Singapore national icon, the mythical Merlion, has the head of a lion and the body of a fish. The body symbolises Singapore's humble beginnings as a fishing village. Its head represents Singapore’s original name, Singapura, or ‘lion city’ in Malay. This night photograph shows the Merlion spouting water from its mouth into Marina Bay, with some of the high-rise buildings in Central Business District in the background.
