Feathered Philosopher - 20241211-DSC00416
In emerald robes with eyes so bright,
A flash of green, a dart of light,
A ruby beak, a regal plume,
A voice that echoes through the room.
From banyan shade to window sill,
He chirps and talks, then stands so still.
A mimic bold with clever grace,
He wears a ring upon his face.
The males bear bands of black and rose,
A royal collar nature chose.
The females, plain, yet just as wise,
With knowing glances, sharp and shy.
He comes from lands of monsoon rain,
Of mango groves and sugarcane,
But cities now and distant trees
Have heard his call upon the breeze.
A pet, a pest, a forest sprite—
A captive heart that longs for flight.
Yet in his song, a tale is spun,
Of wild skies kissed by setting sun.
