Pastel Reflection

Thurne Windmill, Norfolk Broads

My original plan for sunrise was to turn left out of the B&B and head to Happisburgh and the beach there. However, as I started to pull away I noticed some mist in the fields opposite. A sudden case of ‘dithering’ infected me for about 15 seconds before on impulse I turned right instead and headed off to Thurne windmill again. I’d seen some lovely shots in the mist taken there so decided I’d give it a try - and boy I’m glad I did.

Given the orientation you are not going to get great colourful skies lit up pre-sunrise but you can get some lovely pastel colours and having already visited I knew some compositions I wanted to try.

In the case of this shot the boat was a real bonus and the still conditions gave a nice reflection. Ideally I’d have liked to get more of the windmill reflection but the width of the water channel and the composition overall just didn’t let me.
