Winter arrives

Savernake Forest, Wiltshire

Well Windy & Ventusky told me there would be widespread freezing fog this morning and from my work forecast I was told snow would be arriving in Hampshire from the west late morning. I set my alarm for 6am (lie-in!) and the apps still said widespread fog. decided last minute to set off for Savernake Forest and hardly saw any fog/mist the whole way there!

Decided I might as well shoot some hoar frost images and was just thinking about starting to head back to the car when there was about 15-20mins of reasonable snow fall. I lost some time in having to retrace my steps so didn't get many shots whilst the snow was actually falling but I tried a handful of compositions and experimented with the shutter speed to try to capture the falling snow.

Quite like how this one turned out and it's especially pleasing because I normally have to work when snow is forecast but managed to free up my time to get out for once.

Keep warm everyone.
