Mechelen Cathedral

St Rumbold's Cathedral

Mechelen is a historic city and municipality in the province of Antwerp, situated on the Dijle River. It is located between Brussels and Antwerp, making it an accessible and often less-crowded alternative to its larger neighbors. The city is known for its medieval heritage, stunning architecture, carillon bells, and inclusive urban transformation.

St. Rumbold's Cathedral, also known as Sint-Romboutskathedraal, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the city centre. It is a prominent example of Gothic architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Construction began in the 13th century and continued for several hundred years. The cathedral's tower, a landmark of Mechelen, is 97 meters (318 feet) high.
