Sand, Wind and Stars
“There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches of Earth.”
— Carl Sagan
And yet, here I stand—on top of one of Nambung's sand dune, surrounded by sand, with the Milky Way stretching above like a cosmic arc… a quiet reminder of how small we are, and how incredibly lucky we are to witness beauty like this.
This shot was taken after a sunset wander through one of Nambung’s incredible dune systems—formed from wind-blown, lime-rich beach sand. The further these dunes are from the sea, the older and softer they become, shaping not just the land but the life that grows upon it.
There’s so much more waiting out here to be explored—think I’ll be back in a couple of months for round two.
