Dharmendra has two wives, Parkash Kaur and actress Hema Malini. Dharmendra was first married in 1954 to Parkash Kaur at the age of 19. then He later married actress Hema Malini in 1979. He did not divorce his first wife.
In 1997, he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Hindi cinema.
He is one of the most successful actors in the history of Indian cinema. One of his most notable roles was in the 1975 film Sholay.
He was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India, representing Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In 2012, he was awarded India's third-highest civilian honor Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
