Horse & buggies are still in abundance throughout Amish towns. When they have to, they will venture out on busy roads where there are lots of cars. Most people respect their way of travel and will slow way down if they need to pass them or stay behind them. A few drivers will zip right past them, unfortunately. The horses wear eye blinders so as not to get spooked at what's beside them. Most buggies nowadays have lights on the back so when they are out at nighttime they can be well seen.
