Roman Amphitheater Tarraco
A view of the Roman amphitheater built between the 1st and 2nd century AD on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the city of Tarraco, now Tarragona. After the decline of the Roman Empire and abandonment during the Islamist control of Spain, it has seen used as the site of a church (subsequently destroyed) a convent, prison and now a prime tourist sight.
