Herkimer diamond, light play, close up

Not a diamond at all, but a name for a doubly-terminated quartz crystal found around Herkimer, NY. A true diamond has much more light dispersal and is the hardest known mineral (10 out of 10). This stone shimmers a bit and has a hardness of 6.5 out of 10. This stone is about 8mm long.
