Snowy Mountains Highway

Usually, going to the Snowy Mountains in summer brings relief from the heat, and as the National Parks Service was offering free entry to celebrate Australia Day, it sounded like a good idea to go. However the temperature reached 35° in the mountains, and signs of several years of drought were clear on the road into the mountains.
