The second most common type of sand is calcium carbonate. An example, aragonite, has mostly been created, over the past half billion years, by various forms of life, like coral and shellfish."

 

I'm just delighted that I noticed these lovely particles. You might want to enlarge this image, as the sand particles are incredibly lovely. ;)
