Heart Be Still
The kalij pheasant (Lophura leucomelanos) is a pheasant found in forests and thickets, especially in the Himalayan foothills, from Pakistan to western Thailand. However, these pheasant were spotted very far from there. During a trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, I spotted this pair walking through the underbrush. I was stunned to see they continued walking toward me...so I froze like the proverbial deer in the headlights. What a treat!
