Aylanmaa Damyran- Overthroat Tuvan Singer from Russia visited Zebar recently. Students of class 5 got a glimpse of Mongolian throat singing which is practised by people in Mongolia, Inner Mongolia, Tuva and Siberia. This visit was organised with the help of Tender roots Academy of Performing Arts. Students were introduced to their culture and their musical instruments. They had a great time listening to the various animal sounds she made through her throat. The main attraction of the session was the Shaman song played by using Shaman drum during healing sessions. The song was equally enjoyed by all students as they repeated the lines sung by Aylanmma Damyran.She also played the Tyvan National instruments igil,khomus and doshpuluur. In addition to her performance she interacted with the students and told them about the music of her region, her singing style and her language.
