The Town of Bedlam: Scene 42

[Melissa] It was nice of your client to invite us to their traditional Thanksgiving meal. I've never been to an Indian reservation before.

[David] Me either. When he offered I figured why not. He said we could wear pilgrim costumes if we wanted for realism, but ultimately it didn't matter.

[Melissa] You never mentioned that part to me! We could have dressed up. Now I'm going to feel silly.

[David] It's fine. Don't worry about it. Looks like we've arrived. There's my client.

[Chief Joseph] Welcome to our reservation!

[David] Glad to be here! We brought you a gift.

[Chief Joseph] Thank you! It's not a blanket infected with smallpox is it?

[David] Uh, no..

[Melissa] I love your place. It looks really lovely out here.

[Amara] Oh, do you want to kill us and take our lands?

[Melissa] What? Of course not!

[David] What's going on here? I've changed my mind. We're leaving.

[Chief Joseph] Not so fast. Crazy Horse, tie them up.

[Melissa] Why are you doing this to us? We didn't do anything to you!

[Amara] It's our tradition to have a ceremonial offering of immigrants before we eat our feast.

[David] We're not immigrants!

[Chief Joseph] Unless you are native Indian, you are children of immigrants and that makes you an immigrant also. Your ancestors came to our lands and slaughtered our people. You stole everything from us, and forced our people to live on diseased rotten lands. Consider this payback. Crazy Horse, scalp them! Then we will eat our feast and afterwards we'll drag the bodies to the hog pen so they can feast as well.

[Crazy Horse] My pleasure! Now we can eat. I sure am hungry!

[Amara] Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

[Chief Joseph] Happy Thanksgiving!
