Singapore, mythical creature Merlion, landmark of Singapore

Original statue since 1972 at the mouth of the Singapore River. 8,60 M. high. Inside made of cement, covered with white porcelain tiles.

 

Symbolic : The lion refers to the name of the city, because Singa-Pore literally means lion city. The fishy part of the statue refers to the city in the 14th century, when Singapore was a simple fishing village and was called Temasek.
