Marie Thérèse Casgrain was a French-Canadian women's rights activist, reformer, politician and senator. Was a leader in the fight for women's suffrage in the province of Quebec and the first woman to lead a political party in Canada.

Opposed nuclear weapons and a consumer advocate. A staunch federalist, one of her last political actions at the age of 83 was to intervene on the side of "no" in the 1980 referendum on Quebec sovereignty.
