1926, Edvard Munch, Lucien Dedichen and Jappe Nilssen -- Munch Museum (Oslo)
From the museum label: This painting, also called The Death Sentence, shows two of Edvard Munch's old friends: the physician Lucien Dedichen and the writer Jappe Nilssen. The 'death sentence' was probably Nilssen's diagnosis with a terminal disease. Like Munch, Dedichen came from a medical family. His brother ran a private asylum. Their father had been the doctor at a cobalt mining company near Oslo.
