1890 (ca.), Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, A Woman Seated in a Garden -- Courtauld Gallery (London) (special exhibition)

From the exhibition label:

Around 1890, partly influenced by the plein air methods of his Impressionist predecessors, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec became interested in painting figures outdoors. These works contrast with the lively atmosphere and vibrant colour palette of his paintings of Parisian nightlife, though the red hair of the woman in this work is styled in a coiffure made fashionable by the Moulin Rouge dancer known as 'La Goulue'. While the model sat for Toulouse-Lautrec several times, her identity remains unknown.

Toulouse-Lautrec achieved this work's matte quality by adding turpentine, a paint thinner, and applying the medium rapidly to cardboard.
