From the museum label: This painting shows a corner of Matisse's apartment in Paris, where he lived from 1899 to 1907. He typically painted domestic interior and still life scenes around this time, or subjects related to his studio. Here, Matisse includes a number of his own works — he sculpted the casts on top of the wardrobe.
