1891, Claude Monet, Grainstack (Sunset: Winter) -- National Gallery (London)

From the museum label: Between 1890 and 1891, Monet painted some 30 pictures of grainstacks. Depicting the same motif throughout the course of the day and the seasons, he recorded the changing light and atmospheric effects. This is the first of Monet's 'series' paintings, which would mark a breakthrough in his career.
