1890, Vincent van Gogh, Farms near Auvers -- National Gallery (London)
From the museum label: For the last two months of his life Van Gogh lived in Auvers-sur-Oise, a village north-west of Paris, where he lodged at the inn of the Ravoux family. The artist loved the 'mossy thatched roofs' of the village cottages, which he depicted in this painting with short, olive-green brushstrokes. The hasty brushwork and blank sky suggest that the painting is unfinished.
