1917 (ca.), Claude Monet, Irises -- National Gallery (London)
From the museum label: The 19th century saw an explosion in varieties of iris, a great many of which Monet cultivated in his garden in Giverny. He grew beds of irises along the paths of his water garden, and painted around 20 views of them. Here he is probably positioned on the Japanese bridge, looking down at the path and its borders.
