1950 (ca.), [Nathdwara, India], Sharad Purnima Celebrations in the Kankroli Haveli -- National Museum of Asian Art (Washington)
From the museum label:
In Pushtimarg temples, gently waking and clothing Krishna are the first activities of the day. An artist depicted the dressing ritual at the Pushtimarg temple (known as a haveli) in Kankroli as an elaborate affair. Krishna has just been garbed, and a spiritual leader holds aloft a mirror so the god may see his own appearance. A lotus-filled pool represents the Yamuna River, and small models of cows and gopis evoke Krishna's childhood home in Braj.
The devotee who commissioned this manorath image is likely the man in pink standing to the left of the pool.
