1916, Gustav Klimt, Schönbrunn Landscape [Schönbrunner Landschaft] -- Leopold Museum (Vienna)
From the museum label: This privately owned landscape is a permanent loan to the Leopold Museum and the only landscape painting that Klimt created of his hometown Vienna. It shows a section of the park surrounding Schönbrunn Palace, with the big water basin filling about two thirds of the image and displaying an enchanting reflection of the real world. The flittering green of the trees and the cloudy segment of sky in the upper right corner of the image are reflected on the water surface. A few miniature passersby complete the scenery in the background -- a true exception in Klimt's landscapes, which are usually composed without people.
