1906, Maurice de Vlaminck, Still Life with Fruit Bowl -- Albertina (Vienna)
From the museum label: Vlaminck's still life exhibits the typical features of Fauvist painting, such as a dynamic brushwork and brilliant colours. The artist applied his paints unmixed and in an impasto manner, similar to Van Gogh, whom he had taken as his model. Moreover, his painting is characterised by a strong simplification of form and black outlines meant to augment the colours.
